How do I request a deferral or exemption for an Activity?
Sometimes compliance requirements don't align perfectly with your current circumstances. Whether you need additional time to complete an activity or believe an assignment doesn't apply to your role, you can request deferrals and exemptions through the mobile app.
What You'll Need:
- An assigned Activity that isn't yet Overdue
- Clear reasoning for your deferral or exemption request
Time Required: 2 minutes
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Locate Your Assigned Activity
- Select To Do from the Dashboard
- From the list of Activities, select the Activity of interest
- The Activity details screen will appear
Step 2a: Request a Deferral
- Select the 3-dot icon in the top right corner of the Activity details page
- Select Deferral Request
- Input a new Due Date for when you can realistically complete the activity
- Provide a clear Reason for requesting the deferral
- Select Submit
Step 2b: Request an Exemption
- Select the 3-dot icon in the top right corner of the Activity details page
- Select Exemption Request
- Input a detailed Reason explaining why this activity shouldn't apply to you
- Select Submit
What Happens Next?
Deferral Outcomes
- If Approved: You receive an email notification and the Activity is moved to the Deferred section of the Dashboard. Remember to complete the activity before the new due date.
- If Rejected: You receive an email notification, the Activity remains in the To Do section of the Dashboard with a new label of Request Rejected.
Exemption Outcomes
- If Approved: You receive an email notification and the Activity is moved to the Exempted section of the Dashboard.
- If Rejected: You receive an email notification, the Activity remains in the To Do section of the Dashboard with a new label of Request Rejected.
Troubleshooting
Issue: Can't find the 3-dot icon on Activity details page
Solutions:
- Ensure you're viewing the full Activity details screen, not just the activity list
- Check that the activity status isn't already Overdue or Completed
- Try refreshing the app by pulling down on the screen
Issue: Request submission appears to fail
Solution:
- Check your internet connection is stable
- Ensure all required fields (reason, due date for deferrals) are completed
- Try closing and reopening the app, then resubmit
When to escalate: If submission continues to fail after checking connection and app refresh, contact technical support for assistance.
