How do I add scoring to a Kinatico Compliance custom activity?

Adding scoring to a custom activity allows you to turn any activity into a quiz or assessment with predefined correct answers. Define the correct answer for each field and Kinatico Compliance will automatically grade user responses. You can set a minimum score required to complete an activity. When this isn't met, it can either be flagged to an admin or sent back to the user immediately to reattempt.

Before You Start

What You'll Need:

  • Administrator access to the Kinatico Compliance portal
  • A custom activity with at least one form page already created

Time required: 3 min

Instructions

Step 1: Set your activity type to Advanced

  • In your custom activity, navigate to the Behaviour section and locate the field "What type of activity are you creating?". Ensure this is set to Advanced Activity.

Step 2: Enable scoring on a field

  • From the activity, click Edit Form on the page you want to add scoring to.
  • Click on the field you want to score (e.g. a yes/no question such as "Do you hold a valid and current first aid certificate?").
  • In the field's Properties, locate the Condition section.
  • Toggle on Enable Scoring.

Step 3: Input the correct user response

  • An Expected Value field will appear, select the correct answer (e.g. Yes, to indicate the user does hold a first aid certificate).
  • Optional: Assign a point value to this field. The default is 1 point.
  • When you've finished adding the scoring to the page fields, click Save to save the page.

Step 4: Set the minimum score and retry behaviour

Once scoring has been added to your fields, return to the Advanced Activity settings.

  • Locate Set the minimum score required and enter your threshold (e.g. 1 out of a possible 1). You must set a minimum score.
  • Optional: Toggle on Allow Retry on Fail to prevent users from submitting the activity until they meet the minimum score (e.g. a user cannot complete the activity unless they confirm they hold a valid first aid certificate).

Step 5: Publish your changes

  • Click Next, then Publish to save and apply your scoring configuration to the activity.

What happens when a user submits a response that doesn't meet the minimum score?

If "Allow Retry on fail" is toggled ON

The user is immediately told they haven't met the minimum score to complete the activity and they have to reattempt the activity.

If "Allow Retry on fail" is toggled OFF

All Advanced Activities go to an admin to review the response (under My Actions>Escalations>For Review). When the admin looks at the Activity Details page they'll be told immediately whether the user passed scoring, and they can Resolve the response by selecting either:

  • Not Accepted: Making the response and user profile Non-Compliant
  • Accepted: Making the response compliant
  • Resend: Sending the activity back to the user to reattempt

Example of an activity response that didn't meet the minimum score (the admin marked as Not Accepted)

Recommended next steps:

  • Assign the scored activity to users in your User Directory to begin collecting graded responses.
